TIME

CAUSE OF CLOSURE
council-led refurbishment
The Deptford Anchor, a sculpture marking Deptford’s maritime histories, designed by Rosie Chard, was removed by the council in 2013, following refurbishment of the south part of the High Street, on account of being a ‘gathering ground for street drinkers’. 84% of those surveyed by the council were against its removal.
NOTE ON A POST-IT
'Anchors don’t make people drink on the street, capitalism does.'
